Matthew Chamberlain (born April 17, 1967) is an American drummer, record producer and songwriter. He came to prominence with Edie Brickell & New Bohemians, and has worked as a session musician with a wide range of artists including Pearl Jam, David Bowie, Tori Amos, Morrissey, The Wallflowers, Elton John, Fiona Apple, Bob Dylan, Brandi Carlile, Garbage, Macy Gray, and Soundgarden.

Biography
Chamberlain was born in San Pedro, California on April 17, 1967.cite-ref-3-1-0[1] He began learning how to play the drums at 15 years old, taking lessons with David Garibaldi from the band Tower of Power. He attended North Texas State's music program, leaving after less than a year. After leaving college, he moved to Dallas, Texas and played with multiple bands in the Dallas Deep Ellum music scene .cite-ref-1-2-0[2]
While in Texas, he joined the band Edie Brickell & New Bohemians, and was the drummer on their album, "Ghost of A Dog."cite-ref-1-2-1[2]cite-ref-3-1-1[1]
During the 1991 and 1992 season, he was a drummer for the house band of Saturday Night Live.cite-ref-1-2-3[2]cite-ref-3-1-2[1]
Along with Skerik, Brad Houser and Mike Dillon, he co-created the jazz-fusion band Critters Buggin.cite-ref-0-3-0[3]
In 2016, 2019, 2021 and 2024 cite-ref-4[4] he won Modern Drummer magazine's readers poll in the Studio Musician category.cite-ref-5[5] In 2014 he filled in for drummer Matt Cameron in Soundgarden. He played over 51 shows with them through South America, Europe and a co-headlining tour with Nine Inch Nails in the United States.
He was the Music Director for More Music at The Moore Theatre Seattle, Washington,cite-ref-6[6] in 2019 and 2020.
Chamberlain joined Bob Dylan's Never Ending Tour in 2019 and played on his 2020 release Rough and Rowdy Ways.cite-ref-2019tour-7-0[7]cite-ref-roughrowdy-8-0[8]
In 2025 he joined Paul Simon for his "Quiet Celebration" Summer Tour
